About Us - Our History

St. Lawrence Catholic School was established in 1965 and has been an important institution for Catholic education and academic excellence in the Diocese of Bridgeport, the City of Shelton, and St. Lawrence Parish. The elementary school currently serves and educates 200 children in ten academic grade levels: Pre-Kindergarten - eighth grade.

The school mission steers the faith-centered educational environment and is the foundation for outreach, decision-making, staffing, curriculum, and program direction. The curriculum provides diverse academic, extracurricular, athletic, multicultural, and performing arts opportunities.

The dedicated and supportive parents of St. Lawrence School often comment that they feel their children are in a safe, secure, and spiritual learning environment. The relationship between the school and the home is open, communicative, and very positive.

St. Lawrence Parish is an integral part of the culture and history of the City of Shelton. Parish and school events invite and welcome people from the community. There are many multi-generational families who have attended St Lawrence School either as a student, parent, or in many cases, both. The staff, parents, and students are a family who work closely every day for:

Academic excellence in a faith-filled environment.
